His Word, My Waves

Today there was a weather alert for Lake Michigan. It was a beach hazard warning as September is the start of "Wave Season" on the lake. Colder denser air digs into the summer warmed, less dense waters causing large and rapid wave development. They tell people not to get in the water as the powerful rip currents can pull you out into the water. It is a powerful phenomenon that is impressive to watch.

"The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stabilished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is estabished of old: thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever." Psalm 93:1-5

When we see the power of nature, whether in "wave season" or during a storm, to think that God is even mightier than that is pretty awesome. The depths and breadth of the oceans cannot contain his majesty or holiness. Regardless of where we look in His creation to find something to compare to our God, everything will fall vastly short. No matter how beautiful, how incredible, how awesome or how powerful nature appears; God is more. There just isn't anyway that we can wrap our minds around the magnitude of the wonder of our Lord and Savior. When I think about the problems/concerns that I have and how I feel that they are so large and impossible, to God they are merely small things. These things are important to Him because they are important to me but when compared to His ability, these problems are tiny. When the impossible comes, God is bigger. When temptation comes, God is mightier. When money is short, God is richer. When health is poor, God is stronger. It doesn't matter what problem or issue comes our way, God is more than able to take care of it.

"The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea."
