His Word, My Faith

"But without Faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6

Most of us desire to please God but we try to live with weakened faith. Weak or non-existent faith is not pleasing to God, according to the verse in Hebrews. It is God's desire that we walk in faith and that our faith is powerful enough to move mountains. But how do we grow our faith? How do we get our faith strong enough to believe for a miracle, whether physical, financial, spiritual or emotional? In Romans 10:17 it says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." If we truly want to grow in faith and to have the signs following us (Mark 16:17-18) then we must emmerse ourselves in the Word of God. As with our salvation, we must take ownership of our faith. We must take the time to pray and study the Word of God. Due to all of the technology available to us, we are able to fill our hearts and minds with the preached Word of God. It is through this devoted effort that we will build our faith. Strong faith does not happen by accident but through the written and spoken Word of God.

It is very apparent that the world is getting more wicked and it appears that there is an assault on Christianity. It will be vitally important that we are strong in our faith and know what we believe, why we believe it and personally know Jesus that gave us our faith. We cannot rely on just going to church to give us the depth of the Word that will be required as our world gets worse and worse. Having a healthy, strong relationship with the church is great and needful but if the church were to be disbanded today, do you have the relationship with your Lord and Savior that will keep your faith intact? Do you have enough knowledge of the Word that you can, not only sustain but, grow your faith? If you rely on your Sunday service only to get your through the week, you are missing out on the beauty of an intimate relationship with God. I love worshiping with other believers. The preached Word of God is satisfying to my soul. But it is the quiet times of prayer and devotion that I hear God speak to me, lead me and direct my path. When it is just me and God is where the depth of my relationship and faith exists.
